Colors, Web Design and Creativity

A wise man once said, "You can't teach creativty, just inspire the uninspired." Well, consider me the 'uninspired' as I am no good with colors, art or being creative in anyway.. that's actually a big reason on why this blog is tagged Web Development, instead of Web Design. However, there are a few simple issues concerning aesethics and colors that developers need to consider.

Here are some CRAs (CodeSucker Recommended Articles) to help you out with choosing the correct color and design schemes for your pages:

Which colors do you use and why? by Time Thief
Colors on different monitors, websafe colors by Roentarre
Choosing a color scheme using the crayon method by Roentarre

My advice on design is to keep it simple, I mean visually and functionally - don't add unimportant features or crowd your pages with feeds and other nonsense. Load time is important, but visitor satisfaction is key - if they feel cluttered or lost in your site they won't be coming back.

  1. Thank you so much for drawing reader attention to the posts on my blog.

When we first begin to blog we tend to select themes based on what appeals to our own sensibilities in terms of color and layout. We tend to do so unconsciously without clearly understanding that colors evoke emotions and with out considering the impact of colors on our readers.

As we progress as bloggers we re-evaluate our original choices by "seeing them through the readers' eyes". Then we may select a design that provides full functionality, accessibility, intuitive navigation set and a color scheme that sets the tone for our blog, and effectively showcases our content.

  5. Helpful and informative article. That's right web development is very wide or broad instead of web design as your tag. Web Designing is just part of web development. I'm I right?
